The Sundarnarayan Temple, devoted to Lord Vishnu, is a stunning place of worship in Nashik. The temple’s ancient architecture and detailed carvings, featuring idols of Lord Narayan, Lakshmi, and Saraswati, are truly remarkable and worth admiring.

The great devotee of Lord Mahadev, “Jalandhar,” was an evil demon blessed with immortality due to his devotion. He misused the blessing and committed evil deeds. His virtuous wife, Vrinda Devi, acted as a shield for him. Other gods sought help from Lord Vishnu, who tricked Vrinda Devi and killed Jalandhar.

In retaliation, she cursed Lord Vishnu to turn black and ugly. To lift the curse, he took a holy dip in River Godavari and regained his original form, becoming Sundarnarayan. Therefore, it named as Sundarnarayan temple being one of the famous Vishnu temples in India.
