This particular idol was the first to be immersed in the river at the end of the Ganesha festival on the 10th day; the festival is celebrated with great energy in the city. In 1630 AD, the queen Jijabai Bhosale arrived in Pune with her son Shivaji, who was only 12 years old. 

Shivaji was disturbed by the plight of the Mavals and vowed to liberate them from the Mughals.
